Going Green to School Day
On Friday, March 28, 2014 the school community participated in "Going Green to School Day" (BT website event), together walking, biking, and carpooling to school to burn less fossil fuels and reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
On this day, High Schoolers also dressed in their green apparel and raised money for the Chesapeake Bay Foundation. Together, students contributed $152!

This was part of Project GreenUp, a series of sustainability-themed days students in the Environmental Club planned to help usher in a "greener" spring. The programs included Meatless Thursday on March 27, Going Green to School Day on March 28, and the Second Annual Campus Cleanup on April 6.

Harrisburg Van Transport ProgramThe Harrisburg Van Transport Program carries students from several families from Pennsylvania to Beth Tfiloh and back, alleviating the need for each family to make the drive. This form of mass transportation decreases fossil fuel consumption and reduces total automobile emissions.
There is also a van transport from Columbia, MD that transports students. |
Lower School Carpool Search
Many Lower School Beth Tfiloh students carpool with other families to travel to and from school. A tool has been designed on the BT Website to facilitate carpooling partnerships between families living in the same communities. The map tool is an easy way for parents to share in carpooling responsibilities and responsible transportation initiatives. Although the map itself is on the private part of the Beth Tfiloh website since it is linked with the Directory, a screenshot is displayed below.
High School Bike Rack
In front of the High School sits a bike rack, available for the students who live nearby in Pikesville and choose to bike to school as a greener alternative to driving.
